Data returned for each IP lookup

🌍

Country

Full country name and ISO code (e.g. ES, US, GB). Country-level accuracy is 95–99% for most public IP addresses.

🏙️

City & region

Nearest city and region/state. City accuracy is 50–80% — the result may be a nearby major city rather than the exact location.

🌐

ISP / Carrier

The internet service provider or organisation that owns the IP block — useful for identifying hosting providers, CDNs and mobile carriers.

📍

Coordinates

Latitude and longitude for the estimated IP location. These are the centre of a region, not an exact street address.

🕐

Timezone

The IANA timezone identifier for the IP's location (e.g. Europe/Madrid), along with the current UTC offset.

🔢

ASN

Autonomous System Number — the unique routing identifier of the network. Useful for identifying cloud providers, CDNs and large organisations.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is IP geolocation?

Country-level: 95–99% accurate. City-level: 50–80% — may show the nearest major city. Coordinates are estimates (city or region centre, not a street address). Lower accuracy for: mobile IPs (carrier routing), corporate IPs (HQ or data centre), VPN/proxy IPs (show VPN server location) and Starlink (frequently wrong country). Never use for precise location tracking.

What is an ASN (Autonomous System Number)?

A unique identifier for a network on the internet. Every ISP, hosting provider and large corporation has one. Examples: AS15169 = Google, AS32934 = Meta, AS16509 = AWS, AS13335 = Cloudflare. Used for BGP routing, spam filtering and abuse tracking.

What is the difference between my public IP and my private IP?

Public IP: what the internet sees — assigned by your ISP, visible to websites. Private IP: your address on your local network (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16–31.x.x) — not routable on the internet. Your router uses NAT to map many private IPs to one public IP. "What is my IP" tools show your public IP.

Can I look up someone else's IP address?

Yes — public IP data is publicly available and used legitimately for network troubleshooting, fraud detection and spam filtering. You'll see: ISP, rough city/region, country and ASN. You will NOT see: home address, name, or precise location. Using IP lookup for stalking or unauthorised surveillance is illegal in most jurisdictions.
